Machining Copper the Right Way

Copper’s softness and tendency to smear rather than cut cleanly means that tooling geometries and cutting parameters that work well for steel or aluminium often produce poor results on copper — built-up edge on the tool, torn surface finishes, and dimensional drift over a production run. We have developed our tooling selection, cutting fluid choice, and feed-and-speed settings specifically around copper’s behaviour, so finished parts come off the machine with clean edges, accurate threads, and a surface finish that doesn’t need extensive secondary finishing.
